Terms of Service

  • Effective date: 19 July 2026
  • Last updated: 19 July 2026

These terms are a binding agreement between you and Vizanalysis LLC ("we", "us") governing your use of the Sanctum app. By using Sanctum you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What Sanctum is — and isn't

Sanctum is an unofficial, independent life and lore tracker for tabletop card games. It is not produced, endorsed, supported, or affiliated with Wizards of the Coast LLC, Hasbro, or Scryfall.

Sanctum is unofficial Fan Content. Not approved/endorsed by Wizards. Portions of the materials used are property of Wizards of the Coast. ©Wizards of the Coast LLC.

Magic: The Gathering, Magic, Commander, Planechase, Archenemy, Two-Headed Giant, Planeswalker, Oracle, Dungeons & Dragons, D&D, the mana symbols, and the adventure titles referenced by the dungeon tracker — Lost Mine of Phandelver, Tomb of Annihilation, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, Baldur's Gate, and The Undercity — together with all related marks, card names, symbols, and card text, are trademarks and/or copyrights of Wizards of the Coast LLC in the USA and other countries. They are used here nominatively, to describe game content, without endorsement.

We design Sanctum to be consistent with the Wizards of the Coast Fan Content Policy, including by keeping every card-related feature free of charge. We make no representation that any particular use is authorised by Wizards of the Coast. That policy is a revocable permission, not a licence — if it is withdrawn or changed, card-related features may have to be altered or removed, and we cannot promise those features will remain available.

Sanctum is a tracking aid, not a rules authority. Game rules, legality checks, and calculations are provided for convenience and may be incomplete or wrong. The official rules always win, and in an organised event the judge's ruling always wins.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old (16 where required by local law) to create an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details, for keeping your password secure, and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at mate@vizanalysis.com if you suspect unauthorised use.

You may delete your account at any time in Profile → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple and can only be cancelled in your Apple ID settings. Cancel there first — otherwise Apple will keep charging you, and we can neither see nor refund it.

3. Free and paid features

Core tracking features are free. Some features require a paid Pro or Organizer subscription.

Card content is not paywalled. Deck building, card search, card images, pet cards, and other features that display card data are available without payment. Paid tiers cover features we built ourselves — social, syncing, statistics, and tournament organising.

Free trial. New accounts can start one 14-day free Pro trial. It requires no payment details and does not turn into a paid subscription — when the 14 days are up your account simply returns to the free tier and you keep everything you created. The trial is available once per account.

Codes and comped access. Pro or Organizer access granted by a redemption code, a promotion, or as a tester is not a purchase, carries no refund entitlement, and may be time-limited or withdrawn.

Billing. Subscriptions are sold through Apple and billed to your Apple ID. They renew automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless auto-renew is switched off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your App Store account settings — cancelling stops the next renewal but does not refund the current one.

When access ends. Paid features stay available until the end of the period you've paid for. If a subscription expires, is cancelled, or is refunded, your account returns to the free tier at that point.

Your data if a subscription ends. Statistics, match history, and other records you created stay on your account — we don't delete them when a subscription lapses. Pro-only screens stop being viewable until you resubscribe, at which point everything reappears. You can request a copy of your own data at any time at mate@vizanalysis.com, whether or not you subscribe.

Refunds. Apple is the seller for subscriptions bought in the app, so refunds are requested from Apple under Apple's policies; we usually can't issue them ourselves. This doesn't affect your statutory rights — if you're a consumer in the EU or UK you keep your right of withdrawal and your rights in respect of faulty digital content, and we'll help you take those up with Apple if needed. If you paid and an entitlement didn't activate, contact mate@vizanalysis.com and we'll fix it.

Price and plan changes. We may change subscription prices. A price change only ever applies from your next renewal; Apple will notify you and, where required, ask you to confirm before charging the new price. If you don't want the new price, cancel before your renewal date.

We may also add to or improve what each tier includes. If we have to materially reduce the paid features you're currently paying for — for example because a third party we rely on withdraws access (see section 1) — we'll tell you in the app in advance, and you may cancel and ask us for a pro-rata refund of the unused part of your current period. Features that display card names, card text, or card images will remain available without payment for as long as they exist in the app.

Cosmetics are limited, revocable licences to use decorative items inside Sanctum. They are not property, have no cash value, and cannot be traded, sold, or transferred. Cosmetic items you unlock — including items unlocked free during a preview period — stay unlocked on your account, and we won't take them away or move them behind a later paywall. We may change how an item looks, retire an item from sale, or change the price of items still on sale; none of that affects items already on your account. If we ever have to remove an item entirely for legal reasons, we'll tell you in the app first.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you create — your own text, names, and photos. Your ownership does not extend to third-party material contained in or displayed alongside it, including card names, card text, and card art, which remain the property of their respective rights holders.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example to resize, crop, or convert image formats), and display that content, and to sublicense those rights to our hosting and content-delivery providers for that purpose — solely to operate the app for you and the people you share it with (your groups, friends, and spectators). That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in routine backups, content cached by content-delivery networks until it expires, and records retained as described in our Privacy Policy.

No rights in card content. Nothing in these terms grants you any right, title, licence, or interest in Wizards of the Coast's or any other third party's intellectual property. Card data and images are displayed for your personal reference only; we do not license them to you, and you may not extract, redistribute, or commercially exploit them.

You are responsible for what you upload and confirm you have the rights to it. Every image you upload is served from a public URL and can be opened by anyone with the link — don't upload anything private, anything you don't have permission to share, or photographs of people who haven't agreed.

Board photos taken during a game are deleted when that game ends; we don't retain them. Other images stay until you change or delete them.

5. Acceptable use

Don't: upload unlawful, hateful, harassing, or sexually explicit content, or content depicting minors inappropriately; impersonate anyone; harass other users; upload anyone's personal information without consent; attempt to breach, probe, or overload the service or access data that isn't yours; automate access, scrape, or resell the service; or use Sanctum, or content obtained through it, to reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit any third party's intellectual property.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules or create legal risk. Users can report images in-app, and repeatedly reported content may be hidden automatically pending review.

6. Copyright complaints

We respect intellectual property and respond to valid infringement notices. If you believe content on Sanctum infringes your copyright, send a notice to mate@vizanalysis.com, or by post to 145 California Ct, Mission Viejo, CA 92692, including: identification of the work; identification of the material and where it appears in Sanctum; your contact details; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorised; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them; and your signature.

We will remove or disable access to material that is the subject of a valid notice, notify the user who posted it, and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If you believe your content was removed in error you may send a counter-notice to the same address.

We also honour requests from rights holders relating to their card names, art, and text, and may remove or alter affected features without notice.

7. Third-party services

Sanctum relies on third parties including Supabase (hosting), Scryfall (card data and images), Apple and RevenueCat (purchases), and — if your group's admin sets one up — Discord webhooks. If you paste a public deck URL from a site such as Archidekt or Moxfield, Sanctum fetches that page at your direction to read the decklist; you are responsible for ensuring that use complies with that site's terms. Third parties' own terms and privacy practices govern their services, and we're not responsible for them. Card data may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable.

8. Availability

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of Sanctum at any time. We aim to keep your data available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and you should not rely on Sanctum as the sole record of anything important to you. Features that depend on third parties may change or disappear if those third parties change.

9. Termination

You may stop using Sanctum and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we terminate your account without cause while you hold a paid subscription, we will refund the unused part of your current period.

10. Disclaimers

In short: we can't promise the app is bug-free, always available, or always right about the rules.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sanctum is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that game rules and calculations will be accurate.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost game records. Our total liability arising out of or relating to Sanctum is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of sections 10 and 11 may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep all mandatory rights under the consumer law of your country of residence, and nothing here overrides them.

12. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of something you uploaded or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover the resulting claims and costs — except to the extent the claim arises from our own acts or omissions.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Sanctum after a change means you accept it. If you don't accept, stop using the app and delete your account.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, and the courts of the State of California, USA have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also bring proceedings in your country of residence and benefit from its mandatory consumer protections.

15. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Sanctum or its content. You get a limited, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to use Sanctum on any Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.

  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Sanctum.
  • If Sanctum fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Sanctum, including product-liability claims, consumer-protection claims, or claims that Sanctum infringes intellectual property.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
  • You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and are not on any U.S. Government prohibited-party list.
